Education Outreach
As part of our mission to build strong communities and informed citizens, the Florida Humanties Council invests in the professional development of Florida teachers through experiential summer seminars, Florida school district workshops, and the creation of on-line classroom resources for educators.
Offering graduate-level content to outstanding K-12 teachers, media specialists, guidance counselors, and administrators, all FHC teacher programs correlate directly to State Standards, while offering rigorous study of fascinating humanities topics with noted scholars. Programs include:
Our summer workshops offer teachers the unique opportunity to engage in an intensive exploration of a curriculum-relevant humanities topic through field trips, readings, lectures, discussions, films, and cultural experiences. The workshops provide a collegial forum for teachers to exchange ideas and strategies with their peers and distinguished professors during a five-day program with meals, materials, and lodging provided at no cost to participants. Full-day district-based humanities workshops created and conducted by FHC are available to all FL school districts.
